FAQ

What is the Workmatters Institute?

The Workmatters Institute is an exclusive and intensive leadership program that equips young professionals with the framework and tools needed for biblical leadership in the workplace. We help young leaders apply their faith at work.

Why focus on Young Professionals?

We believe that our vision of impacting the culture for Christ through the workplace can only be accomplished if we empower the next generation of leaders. Our intent is that the investment of the Workmatters Institute will help set the spiritual and leadership trajectories of young leaders, yielding a lifetime of influence.

Do I have to be a Christian to participate in the Workmatters Institute?

Yes, we do ask all applicants to affirm a statement of faith (Apostle’s Creed). We want to create an environment where the WMI class, speakers, and mentors are all working from the same base of beliefs, which will enable rich conversation around how faith is expressed in their work. We do not have a denominational affiliation.

Do I have to have a job to participate in the Workmatters Institute?

Yes, we want those participating in WMI to also be active in some form of out-of-the-home work. We believe this context is important for class discussions and personal application, as the content focuses on applying faith into this form of work.

I’m outside of the age range (25-35). Can I still apply?

Yes, if you are just outside of the age range you are still welcome to apply. We expect that there will be a small number of participants outside of the 25-35 range.

How much is tuition and what does it go toward?

Tuition is $1,000, which covers books, materials, excursions, training and several meals. Every penny goes toward the Institute experience. The actual cost per student is much more – we are able to offer tuition at this amount because of the generous giving of our sponsors and donors.

Are there scholarships available and how do I apply?

Yes, there are need-based scholarships available. You can apply for this financial assistance in your application.

What is the time commitment for the Workmatters Institute?

Each Workmatters Institute session lasts 16 weeks. You can expect about one weekday session after work hours and 2-3 hours of reading and prep each week. There are five excursions, either on a Saturday or a weeknight.

Can I miss sessions and still graduate?

You can miss up to four sessions and still complete the Workmatters Institute. We recognize that there will be emergencies and will work with you if and when that occurs. However, we do strongly encourage commitment to all aspects of the program.

How does the mentorship process work?

We will facilitate small mentoring groups. You and 2-3 other participants will be matched with a senior leader according to feedback given throughout the application and interviewing process. Our intent is that other 1:1 mentoring relationships will emerge organically from these and other structured sessions.
