WorkMatters, Inc., a nondenominational non-profit organization focused on bridging the gap between faith and work, recently announced the addition of Dr. Steve Graves, business leader and faith-at-work pioneer, to its Board of Directors. In addition, Tim Broughton, vice president and general manager for McKee Foods in Gentry, Ark., has been elected Chairman of the Board. Mr. Broughton succeeds WorkMatters founder, Tom Frase, who will remain on the Board but stepped down as Chairman due to a new pastoral assignment in Russellville, Ark. University of Arkansas Announces John Tyson Endowed Chair in Faith and Spirituality in the Workplace

The faith-at-work movement received yet another boost as the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR announced the creation of a newly endowed chair focused on faith and spirituality in the workplace.

A $2 million gift from the Tyson Family Foundation and a matching $2 million from the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation will create a $4 million endowed chair at the Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas.

The John H. Tyson Endowed Chair in Faith and Spirituality in the Workplace was made possible through the leadership of Mr. John Tyson, chairman of the board of Tyson Foods Inc., Springdale, Ark.

"Walton College has the potential to become a leader in this burgeoning field, by greatly enhancing the field of knowledge on faith and spirituality in the workplace," said Walton College Dean Dan Worrell. This is a cutting edge endeavor for business schools and we are very excited to be in this position which would not have been possible without the forward thinking and generosity of the Tyson family."

Faith-and-work in Northwest Arkansas

MSNBC.com published an in-depth look at faith-and-work in northwest Arkansas. This was part of a week-long focus on Faith in America by all NBC Media companies (NBC News, Today, MSNBC and MSNBC.com). In Alex Johnson's article, he makes the case that northwest Arkansas may very well be the epicenter of the faith-and-work movement. The article is entitled: "The Faith-at-Work Movement Finds A Home: Building a Silicon Valley of the Soul in Northwest Arkansas. Articles like this and the recent World Magazine article are perfectly aligned with our WorkMatters vision of "transforming northwest Arkansas and the world by raising up leaders for Christ through the workplace."
