Do You Pray For Your Work?

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying..." Ephesians 6:18

How often do you think about praying for your work? With all the things that go on in our lives, most of the time our prayer lives seem to center around more personal needs. It is a struggle to remember to put our work on the prayer list. It seems even a little odd as I write this knowing that I have to consciously remember to pray for the workplace.

Work is just not a place we normally connect with our prayer life. However, what an opportunity it can be if we can just get into the habit of praying about our workplace.
It really makes sense when you think about it. There are so many ways we can be obedient to our Lord by praying for our work. We spend so much of our week at our jobs that we can find all kinds of needs if we just put our mind to it.

You probably are aware of so many needs going on just in your part of the company. The needs vary as well based on where you are positioned. Don't miss the opportunity to bring God's blessings on those who you interact with day in and day out.

As you begin to bring the cares and needs of your workplace before God, you will begin to see how he answers your sincere prayers which will bring you great joy and will honor our Lord. You may find that God will open up new opportunities for you as you begin to faithfully place the cares and concerns of those you work with on the altar before the Lord. You might even want to create a workplace prayer journal so that you can have record of Gods faithfulness specifically where you work.

There may not be any more important thing you can do as a believer who truly wants to see their workplace as a mission field than praying for your work. The power of prayer is so incredible. It is so exciting to see this power being brought to bear on the workplace all over the world. It starts with you and me just taking some time each day and praying for our place of employment. If we will be faithful in this small area, God will be faithful to us in ways we can't imagine. Work can be transformed from a place of stress and drudgery to being a place where we can partner with our Lord in making a real difference in the lives of our co-workers.

A Workplace Prayer

Father, We ask for your help in seeing our workplace through your eyes so that it becomes a place where we live in Christ every day. As we pray,
bring to our minds those we work with and soften our hearts where we can reach out and interact with all these people and love them the way you love us.
Instill in us a desire to change our workplace through lifting it up to you in prayer.
